NELT, a leading distributor and 3PL provider in the Balkans for brands including Procter and Gamble, Kraft Foods, Wrigley and Dr Oetker, has expanded its partnership with Symphony EYC by deploying GOLD Warehouse Voice Operations. The partnership debuted in 2008* with the deployment of the GOLD Warehouse Management System at its distribution center in Belgrade (2500m², 1100 items) and continued in 2011** with additional deployments at its 3 other distribution centers in the region. NELT is now trialling GOLD Warehouse Voice Operations in Belgrade and is already seeing significant gains in productivity and quality.
The Voice trial was undertaken in two distinct zones of the Belgrade distribution center – the carton picking zone and the each / piece picking zone. To benchmark productivity and performance, one third of the warehouse picking operators (21 out of 62 operators) were equipped with voice-enabled devices. The operators were also classified in terms of existing performance profiles (low, average, high). The benchmark was then conducted to measure productivity and performance for the picking operators when using voice-enabled devices versus their productivity and performance when working with PDA devices.
The standard GOLD Warehouse Voice Operations solution met all of NELTs’ requirements and the full system, including training, was operational and ready for trialling within one month. Productivity gains were already being identified after just few weeks in operation.
During 2015, NELT plans to deploy GOLD Warehouse Voice Operations in other zones in its Belgrade warehouse and evaluate a full deployment across its entire distribution network in the Adriatic region.
